ART IS FREE AT MALASTRANA FESTIVAL 2010

A festival of surprises on its eight edition, where art is expressed in complete freedom, a creative space of changes, evolutions, creations and improvisations.
The gracious town of Cascina transforms itself with the Malastrana Festival, an event completely free, for two days (July 23 and 24 2010) in an almost imaginative place where many artists come together to look for inspiration in art, passion, love and freedom.
Artists from Italy and everywhere in the world come to showcase their work in the small alleys and in the piazze, in improvised stages, coming out of their traditional repertoire to dare and open up in an exchange with other artists, to give life to unique events.
The location resembles an artistic anarchy: nothing that has been scheduled is for sure, the written program is like a plot of a show always ready for new experiences.
The spectator is surprised by constant events outside of the program: musicians, poets, dancers, painters and theatre personalities who were not in the program and suddenly come out to have fun and entertain.
Contemporary art is freely expressed in the streets, even though it’s not “street art”, usually elite art in selected places. It’s an event that aims at the quality and the uniqueness of its shows and not on artists with big names. Malastrana has offered for the past four years a tasting of the event, in March, with exhibits of Italian artists in Borgogna, receiving much success from the audience and the critics.
